I have always had a bit of a soft spot for dyeing yarn and fiber. At the end of the summer, I felt the need to pull out some blank Merino wool and dye it.
I came up with two colorways that were inspired by past travels of mine. The first, New England Tide, was inspired by a trip I took to Revere Beach in Boston, MA. The deep blues and greens of the Atlantic have stuck with me ever since that summer trip.
Just a month ago, on my honeymoon, my wife and I went to the Georgia O'Keefe museum in New Mexico. There we saw images of her Ghost Ranch studio and her vividly painted landscapes. This was the inspiration behind the Ghost Ranch colorway. Earthy tones of warm yellows, oranges, reds, greys and browns transport you to the dusty landscape of New Mexico.
Both of these colorways are available in my Etsy store for $20.00 for 4oz.
I have more colorways planned, but first, I need to get through Spinzilla. This is a contest that is taking place in October (6th-12th) that involves teams around the world spinning as much yarn as they can. I am on team Schacht Spindle Company, and am absolutely psyched to try and break my record from last year of 2,302 yards.
Are you participating in Spinzilla this year? What are your goals? What are you spinning? Let me know in the comments!
