Here it is, the first official review from me, Benjamin Krudwig! There will be many more as time goes on, but I just needed to get started, and as we all know starting is the hardest part of every task.
These reviews are going to get the BEnjAMIN treatment
B- Would I buy it?
Enj - Did I enjoy using the product?
A - Analysis of the product.
M - What did/would I make with this product?
I - Interesting facts about the product or company.
N - Do I need this product in my studio?
I have used Eucalan before, and for those of you who haven't heard of the product or haven't used it, Eucalan is a "wool wash" for cleansing and reviving your hand-knits (and other hand made goods.)
The original Eucalan is made with eucalyptus, which is a natural bug-deterrent. I remember using the first bottle of Eucalan that I bought at my LYS and loved it! So for this review I am going to talk specifically about Wrapture, the newer scent of Eucalan. Read to the bottom for giveaway details!
B - Though I love Eucalan, I am not the biggest fan of scents normally, so on a first glance I can't say that I would pop this into my basket. However, if I had the chance to smell it before I buy, it would practically take itself home.
Enj - I did! I always find Eucalan to be pretty gentle on my skin and on my hand-knits. The jasmine smell is lovely would be a perfect wash to use on a more feminine shawl (not many men, including myself would normally wear jasmine scented anything.)
A - Wrapture comes in a few sizes of bottles (5mL - 4L) and needing less than a capful for smaller-medium items, a bottle will last a long time! As I mentioned, Wrapture is jasmine scented, which may be overwhelming for some, but I found it pleasant to use. The lanolin content in the wash keeps the fiber conditioned and wearing well.
M - Since this is a wash, I have ben using it to soak and block my latest projects, and I couldn't be more smitten with using Eucalan again.
I - An interesting fact about the jasmine oil used in Wrapture is that it is considered a natural antiseptic, and an aphrodisiac! Another interesting tidbit is that designer Kristin Omdahl created the scent with Eucalan!
N - Though I have a few fiber washes, they all have different scents, and yes I do soak/block different projects in different scents.
I soak my handspun yarn in an unscented soak, my personal handknits in some soak that has a more neutral or masculine soak, and now I soak the more delicate airy knits with the more feminine Wrapture! So yes, I need this...
I hope you enjoyed the first BEnjAMIN review, and will come back to read the next!
